Interest in cream jars is growing in India. On Google Trends, "cream jar" is up about 79% on last year and peaks in November (a relative index, not a count of searches). "Cream jar 10g" is the most searched size on AnswerThePublic, and people often search for face cream jar sizes and cream jar label sizes. This guide answers those questions, with real prices.
Which cream jar size do you need?
Match the size to how much a customer uses and how long the product stays fresh after opening.
| Jar size | Best for | Good jar types |
|---|---|---|
| 5–10 g | Samples, trial packs, lip balm, eye cream | Small shan jars, 10 g glass jars |
| 15–30 g | Serum creams, under-eye cream, night cream, spot treatments | Shan jars, glass and amber glass jars |
| 50 g | Face cream, moisturiser, face gel | PET, PP, frosted glass and amber glass jars |
| 100 g | Body butter, hair mask, face pack, scrub | PET, PP and acrylic-look jars |
| 200 g and up | Body scrub, hair mask, salon and family sizes | PP yogurt jars, 200 g shan jars, micra jars up to 1 kg |
Smaller jars are opened fewer times before they are finished, so for rich, preservative-light or natural formulas, a smaller jar is often the safer choice.

What size is a face cream jar?
50 g is the most common face cream size, with 30 g for premium or night creams and 15 g for eye creams. A 50 g jar usually lasts one person a month or more with daily use. For launches and gifting, many brands also offer a 10–15 g travel size.
Is a 50 g jar the same as 50 ml?
Not exactly. Grams measure weight and millilitres measure volume, so it depends on how dense your product is.
- Most creams and lotions weigh close to 1 g per ml, so a 50 g jar holds roughly 50 g of a typical cream.
- Light, whipped products such as whipped body butter take up more space, so 50 g of them may need a bigger jar.
- Dense products such as balms, scrubs with salt or sugar, and clays weigh more per ml, so they may fill less of the jar.
Always do a fill test with your actual product before ordering in bulk, and leave a little space under the lid.

Which material is best for cream jars?
PET or PP for value and light weight, acrylic-look or double-wall for a premium feel, glass for a luxury finish, and amber for light-sensitive formulas.
- PET and PP plastic: light, shatter-resistant and the lowest cost, which suits body butter, scrubs and large sizes. PP is widely used for thicker creams and yogurt-style jars.
- Acrylic-look and double-wall jars: a thick, clear or glossy outer wall around an inner cup that looks premium. Our shan jars are listed as PET with an acrylic look, and some of our 50–100 g jars are listed as double wall.
- Glass and frosted glass: heavy, premium and non-reactive with most formulas, but it can break, so pack it well. Zenvista's glass jars run from 10 g to 200 g.
- Amber glass or amber PET: filters much of the UV light, which suits creams with plant extracts, essential oils or vitamin C. Read why amber is used for more.

How do you stop a cream jar from leaking?
Use a jar with an inner lid, double lid or wad, and close the cap firmly before shipping.
- Inner wads (liners): a disc that sits under the cap and seals the rim. We sell inner wads for shan jars from 8 g to 200 g, at ₹2.90–₹5.60 per piece at a pack of 100, and inner wads for micra jars.
- Inner lids and double lids: many of our shan jars are listed with a double lid, and the 200 g shan jars such as ZMJ64 come with an inner lid.
- Jars with wads included: the ZMJ70 white PP jar comes with wads.
For liquids and runny gels, a pump or tube is safer than a jar. Test a filled sample upside down overnight before you ship.

What size label fits a cream jar?
Measure the straight part of the jar wall for the side label, and the lid top for a round lid label.
- Side label height: the flat wall between the base curve and the cap edge, minus about 2–3 mm on each side.
- Side label width: the jar's circumference (diameter × 3.14), minus a small gap so the ends do not overlap.
- Lid label: a circle slightly smaller than the flat top of the cap.
Many product pages include a size chart image, so check it before you design. Our label designing service costs ₹1,200, or ₹2,500 with a product mockup, and editable label templates cost ₹500. See also labelling and printing.
How much do cream jars cost?
